Can You Get Domestic Violence Charges If Your Partner Does Not Call The Police In The Moment?

Those of us who grew up watching Cops came away with the impression that domestic violence cases closely follow a script. A couple gets into an argument that escalates into a physical fight. The wife calls the police as soon as the husband throws the first punch, or even before. The police arrive quickly and examine the parties for injuries that suggest a struggle, such as scratches or marks that suggest one of them grabbed the other’s arm to block a punch. As often as not, no one faces criminal charges, because the parties refuse to testify against each other, and they live in an uneasy peace until the next blowout fight. This is only one of many possible scenarios for domestic violence cases, though. Sometimes the accuser tells third parties about the alleged attack hours later, and the strongest evidence the prosecution has is the medical reports by the doctors who examined the accuser and treated his or her injuries. If you are facing domestic violence charges, but there are no eyewitnesses to the alleged attack except the accuser, contact a West Palm Beach family violence offenses lawyer.
Woman Tells Airport Ticket Agents About Attack by South Florida Chef
One evening in June 2025, a woman approached a ticket counter at Palm Beach International Airport and asked to buy a ticket to travel to the city where her relatives live. The ticket agents noticed that she had bruises on her face, including around both of her eyes. While the woman was talking to the ticket agents, she collapsed, and medical personnel who attended to her determined that she had suffered a seizure. After she was transported to the hospital and examined, police began investigating the head chef at a South Florida restaurant, since he is the one that the woman accused of causing her injuries; she said that he attacked her at his home, which is near the airport.
Police arrested the chef and booked him into jail. His bond is at $90,000, and if he is able to post bond, the court will only let him remain on house arrest while his case is pending. The chef said that he is in dire financial circumstances and cannot afford to hire an attorney, so he requested representation by a public defender. As of the most recent news reports about the case, he is exercising his right to remain silent until he has a chance to meet privately with his lawyer. In order to be acquitted, he must only cast reasonable doubt on the accuser’s version of events. For example, he might use the alibi defense, saying that he was somewhere else when the accuser claims that the attack occurred.
