Five Men Arrested For Solicitation Of Commercial Sex In Palm Beach County

ProstituteCar3

In May 2026, police in Palm Beach County conducted a sting operation, where they went to a place known for prostitution and arrested men that they believed were there to pay for sexual favors. News reports published about the incident did not say whether they arrested anyone accused of engaging in sex work or otherwise of profiting financially from commercial sex. In Florida, it is always against the law to pay for sex or to receive payment for sex, but solicitation of an adult for commercial sex is far from the worst sex offense of which one can be convicted. It is not even always a felony. Despite this, if you are accused of a sex-related crime, even if it is just misdemeanor solicitation of an adult, it is in your best interest to fight the charges. Remember that all defendants in criminal cases, including those involving sexual offenses, have the right to due process and are presumed innocent until proven guilty. If you are being accused of attempting to pay for sex, contact a West Palm Beach sex offenses lawyer.

Solicitation of an Adult Is Not the Worst Sex Crime, but the Penalties Are No Fun

The penalties for soliciting commercial sex from an adult are far less severe than those for soliciting a minor or for sex trafficking; they are also less severe than the penalties for sex crimes that involve physical violence or coercion. Notably, a first offense conviction for soliciting an adult does not require you to register as a sex offender.

A first conviction for solicitation of an adult is a first-degree misdemeanor. This means that the usual penalties for first-degree misdemeanors apply, such as a criminal fine of up to $1,000 and up to a year of jail, probation, or some combination therefore. Additionally, a conviction for solicitation of an adult includes a $5,000 civil fine; this amount always applies, rather than being up to the discretion of the judge. Besides this, you must participate in a human trafficking education program and undergo mandatory screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If a vehicle was involved in the solicitation incident, your vehicle will be impounded for 60 days.

These penalties only apply if you get convicted. Therefore, it is in your interest to fight the charges if you believe that there is reasonable doubt about your guilt or if the police obtained evidence against you illegally. For example, if the prosecution is trying to convict you based on text messages you exchanged with an alleged sex worker in which you allegedly offered to pay for sexual favors, you might be able to argue that there is another plausible interpretation of the text messages.
